It’s now been a little over two years since Lindor left many of us with heavy hearts when her battle with cancer came to an end. However, her legacy and passion for positive change lives on through those she touched over the years. As you may already know, her family, friends and colleagues established the Lindor Reynolds Youth-in-Care Tuition Waiver Bursary shortly after her passing. This fund is opening doors for youth who have grown up in care, so they have the opportunity to pursue a post-secondary education regardless of socioeconomic background.

It has been touching to see such an outpouring of support for this important initiative as we near $100,000 raised. This generosity and selflessness embodies the values Lindor helped instill in so many of us through her work and the way she lived her life. She cared deeply for those most vulnerable, children in particular, and her sincere passion and drive to create awareness surrounding the issues she held closest to her heart have undoubtedly had a positive impact and influence on the way these same issues are viewed and acted upon today. Although she is missed by many, we can take solace in knowing she would be proud to see the legacy she has left in our hands to carry forward.

Spring 2017 will mark the second year that the Lindor Reynolds Youth-in-Care Tuition Waiver Bursary will provide much needed support to UWinnipeg students who grew up in care. This not only serves as a source of financial support, but also sends a strong message of encouragement that reaches beyond monetary value. It says that, like Lindor, we care about those who will benefit from her Bursary and we believe in their potential to leave a meaningful footprint on society. It lets them know their future is as important as that of the next person and they, too, can make a difference just like Lindor.
