UWinnipeg Funding Priorities are:
- Community Programming
- Access to Education: Bursaries
- Academic Excellence
- Infrastructure to enhance learning and campus experiences
The funds listed below directly contribute to one of the four UWinnipeg priorities.
Community Programming Merchants Corner
Merchants Corner is a fixture in the local North End community it serves. Based on the corner of Selkirk Avenue and Andrew Street, the university's satellite campus offers its space to students, residents, and families for a collection of post-secondary programming and communal initiatives. Developed in 2018 with support from the neighborhood and provincial government, the building currently hosts the Department of Urban & Inner-City Studies, CEDA-Pathways to Education's after-school program and Frontier College's pre-school literacy programs.
Community Programming The Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre
A public outreach centre dedicated to serving both students and the neighborhood that surrounds the university's campus, the Wii Chiiwaakanak Learning Centre’s primary focus is to offer educational and cultural programming with an emphasis on Indigenous knowledge. Programming includes Indigenous STEAM Camp, Women's self-defense classes, learning Anishinaabemowin, among others.
Access to Education: Bursaries The General Bursary Fund
Designed to help students with greater financial needs from under-represented student populations, the General Bursary Fund assists students with their direct education costs—helping to cover their tuition, textbooks, or other expenses related to enrollment.
Access to Education: Bursaries The Opportunity Fund
The Opportunity Fund supports Indigenous students, new Canadians and refugees, and students from inner-city neighbourhoods. The goal of this fund is to bridge the graduation gap and support a university-bound identity for everyone.
Academic Excellence The Entrance Scholarship Fund
Entrance scholarships are designed to support undergraduate students who are new to the University of Winnipeg and have not taken credits or completed a degree here before. Students can use these funds to help cover the new costs of their enrollment.
Infrastructure to enhance learning and campus experiences Library Upgrades
The University of Winnipeg Library has reliably served the campus community for more than 40 years. The Library Upgrade Fund looks to help extend the life of this beloved part of campus by renovating and improving the existing space in a way that better meets the modern demands of the institution. Support for the Library Upgrade fund will help increase accessibility and strengthen digital support for students and staff members conducting research.
