The Indigenous Student Services Centre (ISSC) is dedicated to providing a supportive environment that fosters academic success, personal growth, and cultural pride amongst Indigenous students studying at The University of Winnipeg through a variety of academic and support services.

Your ongoing or one-time gift to the Indigenous Student Services Centre Fund will:

  • Support cultural activities such as feasts, Sweatlodge ceremonies, cultural workshops and wellness activities.
  • Provide hygiene products to students who may otherwise go without, ensuring they can maintain their dignity and health.
  • Provide emergency food security through gift cards, emergency food, and supplies to students in crisis, so they do not have to choose between eating and paying for other essential expenses.

Donations can be made online, by payroll deduction, returning a pledge form, emailing Annual Giving Officer Elena Anciro at foundation@uwinnipeg.ca, or by calling (204) 786-9995.

As the cost of living continues to rise, students are facing unprecedented challenges, particularly in the areas of food security and access to basic necessities. These challenges are exacerbated by broader systemic issues that disproportionately affect Indigenous communities, including higher rates of poverty and food insecurity. With your help, we can alleviate the financial burdens faced by our students, allowing them to focus on their studies and their cultural and personal growth.

Your gift will help students like Gracie G. continue to benefit from the Centre’s programs and services:

Gracie Grift with medicine wheel quilt behind her“The ISSC for a lot of Indigenous students is a resource that they will use from their first year all the way up to graduation. It’s way more than just getting help to get into classes and getting some advice. It provides food for students. It provides cultural connection to students. It provides community to students. So, when you are thinking about making a donation, think about the students you will be helping and all the people you’ll be helping to push past the finish line to enter the workforce strong, but also enter as someone who is confident in their cultural identity, and has a community of support around them.”

Thank you for supporting the Indigenous Student Services Centre and the 2024 Campus Campaign!
