Staying close with those who support the UWF: MOU signed between the Foundation and UWRA News Releases

UWF President Javier Schwersensky signing an MOU with UWRA leadership

Winnipeg, MB – On March 3, leaders from the University of Winnipeg Foundation (UWF) and University of Winnipeg Retirees Association (UWRA) met to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the University Club in historic Wesley Hall.

The MOU is a comprehensive document that details the financial and operational support the UWF will provide to the UWRA going forward. Joining Javier Schwersensky, President and CEO of the UWF in signing was Dr. James Christie, President of the UWRA and James Hanley, Vice President of the UWRA. This document is the first of its kind between the two organizations.

“Retirees are some of our most loyal and generous donors,” says Javier Schwersensky, President and CEO of the UWF. “The Foundation is recognizing the vital role they play in advancing the mission and goals of our organization.”

“This MOU is a great gift to the UWRA that will contribute to the stabilizing of our finances while also moving our tech and communication capacities into the 21st century. Recognition of this kind by the Foundation is not only an encouraging acknowledgement of the ongoing and tangible support of retirees to the life and future of UWinnipeg, but a recognition of the centuries of knowledge, wisdom, experience, and insight of Retirees to the UWinnipeg community.”

The terms of the MOU are set to take effect on April 1st.
