Supporting Student Success: The University of Winnipeg Alumni Association 2SLGBTQ* Student Award  Donor Spotlight

During this year’s Pride Month, we are excited to highlight the UWinnipeg Alumni Association 2SLGBTQ* Student Award that was established in 2010 to support students who identify as members of the 2SLGBTQ* community. This award provides $500 to a student attending the University each year. Created by the UWinnipeg Alumni Association, this fund honours past Association Council Presidents, whose tireless leadership and advocacy paved the way for the Council to expand the Alumni Scholarship Program and provide support for all students. 

Several years ago, the Mary C. Rowell Prize fund established by the Alumni Association in memory of the late Miss Mary C. Rowell, former Dean of Women, was closed, and the money was transferred to this student award fund to help ensure this endowed fund would support students in perpetuity. 

Eligible students are considered for the student award by completing their student profile in their UWinnipeg Student Awards Portal between Aug 15 and Oct 1 each year. If you would like to make a gift in support of this fund, please visit this webpage.
