Going the extra mile to deliver warm wishes before the holiday season News Releases

With ongoing postal delays, the University of Winnipeg Foundation hand delivers holiday cards to donors across Winnipeg and Toronto.

To ensure the University of Winnipeg Foundation’s (UWF) tradition of saying thank you to donors gets delivered before the winter break, its staff plus University of Winnipeg students and a Toronto non-profit organization employing neurodivergent individuals are ensuring they reach their destination this December.

“Our Foundation’s supporters can be found around the world, but there are a great number of donors both in Winnipeg and in Toronto,” said Javier Schwersensky, President and CEO of the UWF. “There is something special about receiving a personalized thank you card this time of the year, and thanks to our staff, UWinnipeg students, and Good Foot Delivery, a charity committed to enhancing long-term employability for the neurodivergent community, more than 300 cards made it into mailboxes in Winnipeg and Toronto this week.”

The decision to hand deliver the cards is a gesture meant to recognize how important a role donors play in supporting hardworking UWinnipeg students, the campus and downtown community.

“Our couriers deliver packages across Toronto every day. When we heard the UWF was looking for help getting their holiday message out to their supporters in Toronto, we said yes immediately,” said Carey Suleiman, Executive Director of Good Foot Delivery.  “We are delighted individuals, businesses, and even organizations based outside of Toronto, such as the University of Winnipeg Foundation, are seeing the value of partnering with Good Foot. These collaborations deepen understanding and demonstrate the value neurodivergent employees can bring to the workforce.”

While delivering a thank you message to donors before the winter holidays was a priority for the UWF, it was also an important message students wanted to help deliver, too.

“It was heartwarming to see how the University of Winnipeg Student Association (UWSA) and UWF came together to spread joy and gratitude to our generous donors,” said Chhavi Dhir, Vice-President of External Affairs, UWSA. “We wanted to ensure these holiday cards reached their destinations through the collective spirit of our campus community. It’s a reminder that the connections we build here are not only about academic success but about coming together as a community and supporting one another.”
