President and CEO's Message

Message from the President and CEO

Headshot of Javier Schwersensky

On behalf of myself and our team at the University of Winnipeg Foundation (UWF), thank you for visiting our website.

For more than 21 years, the UWF have been careful stewards of the gifts we receive from our community of donors. We are proud to say the donations made by alumni, staff and faculty, retirees, and our business and community partners are prudently invested to ensure long-term growth and success of the University of Winnipeg's (UWinnipeg) campus, academic programs, and student awards system.

As an arms-length charitable organization, the UWF operates independently in support of the UWinnipeg and The Collegiate. Our role as fundraisers for these incredible institutions sees our team support a variety of different campaigns, events, and philanthropic initiatives that serve their priorities. The success of these projects and the strength of the Endowment we manage are directly linked to the generosity of our donors and the culture of giving that exists both on campus and beyond our head office on Portage Avenue.

Guided by our emphasis on sustainability, donor satisfaction, and responsible investment, the UWF has grown over the last two decades into an organization dedicated to maintaining the longevity of our $100 million Endowment Fund (2025) and increasing the positive impact your dollar has on UWinnipeg students. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference.. Your patronage is something we are keen to support, and we are always open to hearing from those who invest in our efforts.

Donors have always remained at the heart of our organization. Your interests and concerns are echoed in the campaigns we lead and the new awards we promote on our website, in our digital newsletter, and on the pages of our Annual Report. We hope you enjoy learning about our organization and the exciting new projects that your support has helped bring to fruition.

In service,

Javier, and the entire Foundation team
